Ashrei Ish
To the memory of Lewis Lyons
Psalm 112:1–2, 4–6

Ashrei ish yarei et Adonai, b’mitzvotav chafeitz m’od
Blessed is the man who is loyal to G–d, and who strives to fulfil G–d’s commandments.
Gibor ba-arets yih’yeh zar’oh, dor y’sharim y’vorach
Mighty and strong his children will be, respected and blessed in their time.
Zarach bachoshech or lay’sharim chanun v’rachum v’tzadik
On the darkest night, there’s light for the just, G–d’s compassion and mercy shine through.
Tov ish chonein umalveh y’chalkeil d’varav bamishpat
Great is the man who conducts his affairs with honesty and integrity for all.
Ki l’olam lo yimot l’zeicher olam yih’yeh tzadik.
He will be remember’d with fondness and with honor, his goodness rewarded by G–d.
